Setup
Installation
Download the installer from the Download page (an account is required) and run it. Administrative rights are needed to install.
First run
On first run, Valet walks you through granting the permissions it needs and supplying your API keys.
Supplying API keys
You supply your own model-provider and web-search API keys. They're entered directly into the desktop application and never leave your machine.
Granting required permissions
Valet asks for the permissions each capability needs - for example, access to specific folders or applications - before that capability can be used.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need an account to download?
An account lets us tie a download to a person, which is how release distribution and support are managed. It's free to create.
Are my API keys sent to Noerion Labs?
No. Your model-provider and web-search API keys never leave your machine and are never sent to Noerion Labs.
What data does the application transmit?
Valet does not transmit usage or telemetry data. The only data sent to Noerion Labs is feedback you explicitly submit.
Which actions require my approval?
Any consequential action - one that changes something outside Valet's own workspace or can't easily be undone - requires your explicit approval before it happens. See how approval works.
Does it work offline?
Valet depends on your chosen model provider and, for web search, a web-search API - both require a network connection. Local file and document actions that don't need a model call may still work offline.
Which Windows versions are supported?
Windows 10 or later.
How do I uninstall?
Uninstall Valet the same way as any other Windows application, from Settings or Control Panel.
Troubleshooting
The installer fails
Confirm you're running it with administrative rights and that your Windows version is supported. If it still fails, send us feedback with what happened.
The background service doesn't start
Try repairing the installation from the installer. If the service still won't start, send us feedback.
Model provider authentication fails
Check that the API key you entered is correct, active, and has not expired or been revoked with your provider.
A plugin fails to load
Confirm the plugin is still signed and that you're running a supported product version - see the plugin's own listing for its minimum version, where one applies.
